Story of Victory 4-18-14

At the Reformers Unanimous office in Rockford, Illinois, we weekly receive letters from inmates in institutions across the world.  This was one that was received recently.  The Reformers Unanimous Institutional Program is available for your church to use to reach people who have been given a “God-ordained” interruption in their lives.  Here is one such interruption…

I was sentenced to 90 days in jail and was given an opportunity by the judge to be on the work furlough program.  I was only on the program for 3 short weeks, when it was taken away from me because of a write up.  When I was accused of my wrongdoings that led to this legal matter, I was overwhelmed at how my life would be affected; I could not imagine myself being incarcerated for the 3 months that the judge gave me.  I am a single mother of 4 and also care for my ill mother.  I had endless nights of crying, not knowing how my family was going to function.  I eventually figured out a plan that would work; having the privilege of taking care of my ill mother and getting paid at the same time was to my advantage, but like I mentioned before, it was taken away because of a write up I had in jail.

God definitely works in mysterious ways because it was not only being incarcerated that saved me, but the fact that my work furlough was taken from me.  It was from being incarcerated and the rest of my sentence that I was lead to know God and get saved.  I was saved in one of the church services held at the jail!  My passion for learning God’s word only became greater when I learned about Reformers Unanimous.  Had I not been taken off the work furlough program, I wouldn’t have attended the church service where I got saved, or attended my first Reformers Unanimous meeting.

I only have 2 days left in jail.  While I know I face many struggles when I leave, I am confident in the peace I have, knowing that God is going to provide for my needs when I am released.  I have to thank God for the servants he sent to teach us His word.  I don’t have the words to express my gratification for the RU volunteers that go out of their way to make sure we are successful; they genuinely care about us. Again, thanks to everyone involved in Reformers Unanimous, thank you for making a difference in people’s lives.
