Story of Victory 11-22-13

Here is a very recent “Story of Victory” received at the Reformers Unanimous office in Rockford, Illinois.  This is another example of the transforming power of Jesus Christ!  We thank God that we are able to see these miracles on a regular basis!

While I was out in the world, I was drinking and doing drugs. I was doing what I wanted to do and I did not have any respect for authority. I would leave my parent’s house at all hours of the night in order to feed my addiction. While I was hanging around the wrong group of people, they would continue to leave me stranded at many different places. I began to realize that the group of people did not really care about me. The only thing they cared about was that I had money. One day my best friend called me asking if I wanted to do some drugs with her. I originally told her “no” because I thought she was trying to set me up so that my parents would know where I was. While I was doing my own thing I barely spoke to my parents, nor told them where I was. About a week later my dad called to tell me my best friend died of a Methadone overdose; her death really hit me hard. Another week passed, and I called my parents to ask them to pick me up. Once her funeral was over, my parents sent me to a detox facility. I was there for about three to four days, they released me and I went back home. My parents then started searching for a program so I could get some help with my addiction. They found an RU program ten minutes from their house at Five Forks Baptist Church.  After attending RU for about a month, I enjoyed the program so much that I started to attend church services regularly. After a few months I made a profession of faith and was saved on September 13th, 2008. I now see that God allowed my best friend’s death to lead me into a relationship with Him. God has done such a marvelous work in my life. God is continuing to grow me more each day, working on my pride, bitterness, and frustration. He is always teaching me something new. I just want to give God all the glory for how far He has brought me in my daily walk with Him.
