Story of Victory 10-18-13

There are many hurting people from many walks of life.  Such is the testimony you will read below.  Her story is not uncommon today.  There are people in your community just like this dear lady.  Who will go and reach her?  God has given us the tool of Reformers Unanimous to reach people who feel they have lost all hope…will you use this tool to reach someone today? 1 Peter 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…”

I started Reformers Unanimous two years ago. At that time, I had stopped going to church and was drinking and smoking quite heavily. My home was becoming known in the neighborhood as “The Party House”, and sometimes the drinking and loud music would go on through the night and into the next day. My neighbors would cringe when they saw me walking up their driveway, always with a drink in my hand. I had stopped calling and going to visit my family because it cut into my drinking time, or I was just too sick with a hangover to even get out of bed. Although I was being promoted at work at a steady pace, I had a very bad attitude and I’m sure that my co-workers, most of whom are very patient and loving Christian women, did not enjoy or deserve the way I acted when I would come to work with a hangover and sometimes barely sober.
Writing this testimony makes me want to cry for the person that I used to be; except that through the grace of God, I know it has a happy ending! Through prayer, study, and a total surrender to my Lord Jesus Christ, my life has changed so much that I don’t even recognize the person that I used to be. The Lord has given me the ability to use and grow in the fruit of the Spirit. Through God’s love and longsuffering toward me, I now have one year victory in Christ over alcohol and cigarettes.
In surrendering my life to Jesus, He changed me from a barely functioning alcoholic to a child of God. My family, co-workers, neighbors, and even my husband tell me how they can see the change in me and how happy they are for what Christ has done in my life.
