Today I am celebrating 346 days victory in Christ over alcohol, and 815 days victory over cigarettes! I am a new person. When I first started this discipleship course I was struggling to separate myself from the world. I was wary to change my friends, my job, and lifestyle. I was often begrudgingly doing my daily devotions. But today, I see clearly that surrendering to Christ was worth it; He has kept His promises. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “As it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” This is a promise kept!
I never would have dreamed that I could run on a treadmill, spend time peacefully alone, restore my family relationships, abstain from drugs and alcohol, or finally find true love. But God had prepared that for me… I only had to trust Him.
In Christ, I have found the true Love I longed for. I am thrilled and amazed by His goodness, and eagerly anticipating the plans He has for me. Because He loved me, I can love others; because I finally know what it means. I am finally free!
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” — Joel 2:25
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. — Song of Solomon 2:4
