RUI Director’s Report – October 5, 2011

Adversity University 2011

This year’s conference, Rescue & Recover, was a huge success!  I want to thank every attendee for making this year extra special for those of us here in Rockford.  I want to especially thank each director for making every effort to attend and bring your staff and students.  We broke our attendance last year for the overall event as well as the Envision the Vision banquet with Dr. David Gibbs.  $135,000 was raised that night for the two visions presented by our pastor, Dr. Paul Kingsbury.  These visions were: Operation Reach the Nations, to take RU into every foreign land requesting our help; and Operation Open Door, to take RU to the incarcerated of our nation.  Soon, you will receive a DVD of the  Envision the Vision XIII event, along with a few other highlights we think you will enjoy.

There is so much information that was discussed, presented, and taught!  However, we recognize that many of you were not able to  attend and therefore you missed the information, changes, updates, new releases, and the “heart” we shared behind each.  In an effort to “fill you in”, I will be sending multiple emails to directors over the next few weeks, to communicate this wealth of information to all, so we can see greater fruit for our Lord.  I will also be posting all of these emails on for you to review in one location.  I look forward to sharing with you all the information in the days ahead.  Please do not hesitate to call me if you have questions.

Note: Next year’s Adversity University XIV dates are September 24-27, 2012. Mark your calendar today and plan on joining us next year!

Founder’s Friday

One of the most exciting releases at this year’s conference was the adoption of “Founder’s Friday”. On the last Friday in October, we are encouraging every director to promote this day as a BIG day in memory of our beloved founder, Steve Curington. Use this day as an opportunity to reach out to inactive students and graduates, and get all the new visitors lined up as possible.  At the National office, we plan to assist you with…

Downloadable advertising, mini-poster both in color and black and whitePostcard advertising the event for you to customize and print yourself3 options of Steve Curington books at a discount rate for a give away to your chapters.  Short video of our  the life and ministry of Steve Curington RU Memorabilia to give awayFree 8 x 10 photo of  Steve Curington for all Directors who participate and an additional 8 x 10 to use as a promotional item (ie – for the adult who brings the most visitors)

Please join us on this special occasion and help us that Sunday night to present to Mrs. Lori Curington and her children the results of this special week.

Please let us know:

  • Total number of students at the participating chapter
  • Total number of visitors
  • Total number of salvations

The end of this month marks the one-year anniversary of Steve’s homegoing.  Nothing would be greater to show this family than to see their husband/father’s life and ministry continuing to be used in such a prominent way.

Will you participate in Founder’s Friday – October 28, 2011?  If so, we will send you an information packet in the mail, along with some download links to help you advertise this event.  Go to to sign up today. Or email if you have further questions.

Pastor’s Report

The director’s report idea was improved and re-commissioned at this year’s conference.  Instead of a Director’s Report, it has been changed to a Pastor’s Report.  It is more important for directors to weekly be accountable to the Pastor for the development and health of the chapter.  I will be recording a video soon to release to each Pastor on how this report properly read will aid in the development of the RU local chapter.  Let it be reconfirmed at this time that no director answers to us in Rockford, but to their local church pastor.  This report is two-sided.  The front side is the small section of information we are requesting to receive from directors.  If you will be faithful in this area, it will help us serve you better and provide national statistics for future development.  You can download the pdf or the word document from  The section of information we are request=
ing will take less than two minutes to upload to us by visiting  The software, FastTrack, is now updated to generate this report so you can print it out, enter the data, enter any notes to your Pastor and leave in his inbox before the night is complete.  To receive the updated software, email and ask for the upgrade.

New Books

Eight new books were offered at our National Conference. We were amazed at how well these resources were received.  Visit to see pictures and descriptions of these books.  Visit to purchase them today! Please pay attention to the new and improved NIL Student Resource Guide. You will love the new layout and helps found in this book for your students.

Bro. Burks is now privileged to travel and train others how to help the addicted within their communities.
