He Came to Me

The Christian life is to allow Christ to live His life through you.  I am fairly confident that you could not live the life of Ben Burks.  I am sure some of you could imitate parts of what I do, but to live my life, would be simply miserable, because it is my life.  However, for me to live His life is completely possible because mine was set aside when by faith I trusted Him to pay my death sentence (Death, Burial and Resurrection) so that He could live the victorious life through me.  Thank God I am free from this world of sin! When I am dead….He lives through me!

Isaiah 64:4, For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.” Why would God work for me?  Surely it is not the same as me being the employer and Him being the employee.  No! In fact it is more like I am lost and need a rescuer!  “When I say I found the Lord, here is what I mean, I was a lost and lonely sheep, I guess the Lord found me!”  He was working to find me, when I could not find myself!  I was bankrupt, and He prepared for me a bailout!  I was in sin’s dark way, He came to where I was and worked it all out for me.  I am weak, yet He is strong and showing His strength to me and through me.  I am like a hunter endangered by a wild animal who is hungry, and He rescued me!  Literally when I say God works for me, I am saying I cannot do the work – but God can, and desires to do it in me and through me.

Just in the last week, I was able to offer help to two individuals, who desperately needed help.  They had no means to get themselves out of the situation at hand.  Yet, I did not do that work – God did it through me.  He gets the glory.  He gets the praise.  I am sure that is what the apostle Paul meant when he said in Galatians 6:14, “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”

Thank you, Lord, for working on my behalf; your preparations for me are precious!  Make a list of how God prepared for you, as you waited by faith, and praise Him today for those precious things greater than the eyes can see and the ears can hear!

Sharing is Caring

God led Ben and his family (wife, Wendy; and three children, Josh, Caleb, and Hannah) to Rockford, Illinois in 2003 to become the International Director of the fastest growing addiction ministry in the United States. Bro. Burks is now privileged to travel and train others how to help the addicted within their communities.
