Proverbs 16:1 Dissected & Defined
“The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.”
Dissected & Defined
Preparations are acts of arrangement. Your heart is your meditator. An answer of the tongue is a verbal audible response of your thoughts.
While using the definition of preparation as an act of arrangement, we see Solomon realized a hard to understand truth. He understood how God sometimes places man under His control in order to maintain His sovereignty over all.
Let me explain. The word “arrange” means to put into an order. The heart is where we do our thinking. So we learn that the arrangements of our thinking are intended to be stimulated by God.
Your Heart Is The Information You Have Opened
Since God has a particular way He wants us to act. In order for us to yield to those desires of God, we are going to have to talk right and think right. Hence the heart is not where you store acquired information, it is where you dwell on certain information that you have chosen to download from your mind. So we see your mind is your computer; your heart is your desktop. It’s the information you have opened in the computer of your mind.
These open thoughts come from the random grabbing of information we have filed in our minds. God intends these files to be in a particular order. If they are arranged properly you respond right. If they are not arranged properly, your mind will not be arranged, but rather deranged.
A Deranged Mind Is Out Of Order
Therefore a deranged mind is out of order. This will lead the heart to grab the wrong file in times of adversity and dwell on improper thoughts. Having done this, we will say wrong things. God designs the arrangement for our thought and actions. He can force us to stay focused on these arrangements in order to keep us in check. Or, we can discern His proper arrangement for our thoughts and choose to let that “mind be in you.”
So think what we want and have God intervene or think what He wants and have the mind of Christ. Now that’s a nice arrangement.
